The Health Park Modern Rehabilitation Center is equipped with a LOCOMAT, a unique device that allows gait training for adults and children whose mobility capabilities are absent or impaired.
The Lokomat, by ensuring correct gait cycles (limb transfer time, stride length, gait speed), prevents the development of pathological compensations and makes it possible to learn correct gait. Its effectiveness in gait re-education of patients after stroke, spinal cord injury, craniocerebral trauma, MPD, MS has been confirmed by numerous scientific studies.
Lokomat was developed in cooperation with the Paraplegic Center at Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. Thanks to the interaction of doctors, physiotherapists, patients and scientists who developed the Lokomat, it is the most advanced device for gait re-education.
The advantages of starting gait training on the Locomotive early include:
- Minimizing the adverse effects of prolonged immobilization,
- Accelerating the return of function,
- Reduction of pathological muscle tension,
- Normalization of circulatory responses, improvement of trophic and peripheral circulation,
- Restoring correct movement and posture patterns.
The locomotive enables:
- Supervising the correctness of the gait pattern,
- Precise, dynamic weight relief,
- Gait re-education using a treadmill with adjustable speed,
- Individual selection of ranges of motion in individual joints of the lower extremities (hip and knee joint),
- Relief adjustment,
- Page load regulation,
- The use of feedback (biofeedback) as an adjunct to therapy.
- During therapy on the Lokomat, the patient is fitted with an exoskeleton, which allows him to walk on a treadmill under conditions of pressure relief. The main components of the Lokomat are: a treadmill, a pressure-relieving system, an orthosis, and control and analysis software thanks to which it is possible to freely set gait parameters - speed, stride length, ranges of motion in the hip and knee joints.
- The dynamic relief created by the orthosis allows for early learning of gait without sufficient muscle strength in the lower extremities.
The price of Locomotive therapy includes:
- Preparing the patient and device for therapy, training for 25 to 45 minutes (depending on the patient's capabilities), and unhooking the patient from the device.
