Lokomat Pro 6 is a robotic lower limb orthosis that allows training on a treadmill while maintaining the correct gait pattern under dynamic strain relief.
It assists in learning and re-education of locomotion and rehabilitation. Regular locomotor training with the Lokomat device helps prevent the perpetuation of pathological patterns when treating neurological disorders. Thanks to its unique design, the patient is able to precisely perform the maximum number of prescribed gait cycles.
Therapeutic use of Lokomat Pro 6:
- strokes,
- multiple sclerosis,
- cerebral palsy,
- Parkinson's disease,
- Paraplegia (resulting from spinal cord injury),
- brain injuries,
- endoprostheses,
- spinal muscular atrophy,
- Muscle weakness due to lack of movement,
- Hemiplegic patients,
- Patients with paraplegia.
Contraindications to therapy with Lokomat Pro 6:
- Inability to adapt the orthosis to the body (lower extremities),
- Body weight of more than 135 kg,
- strong fixed contractions,
- Instability of the skeletal system (ungrown fractures, spinal instability, advanced osteoporosis),
- Open skin lesions of the lower extremities or trunk,
- circulation problems,
- cardiac contraindications,
- spinal muscular atrophy,
- Uncooperative or (self-)aggressive behavior, transient psychosis,
- severe deficits in cognitive function,
- Patients under (long-term) infusion therapy,
- Patients using a ventilator,
- Patients with extreme lower limb length discrepancy or spinal deformities (e.g., with bone or cartilage dysplasia,
- Severe vascular disorders in the lower extremities,
- In general, patients with a recommendation for bed rest or immobilization, e.g., due to osteoarthritis or other inflammatory/infectious conditions,
- Bracing of the hips, knees, ankle joint.
Advantages of using therapy for patients with neurological conditions:
- It is the most effective gait re-education thanks to the support of research and the latest knowledge in neurology, neurophysiology and neurorehabilitation,
- During gait training, all parameters can be individualized,
- when the patient moves at a slow speed and the applied weight relief supports a normal gait pattern, the improvement is started early,
- therapy is carried out in an objective manner, and the evaluation of the patient's activity is also carried out,
- Paraplegia (resulting from spinal cord injury),
- The locomotive is equipped with assessment tools to measure, among other things, the stiffness of body segments during their movement, the force generated by individual segments of the lower limb, the range of motion of individual body segments (thigh, shank),
- The device has systems to guarantee patient safety,
- makes it possible to reduce the physical effort of therapists involved in gait training with neurological patients.
